Royal Spanish Athletics Federation

THE CHALLENGE.

The Royal Athletics Federation is the public body that represents all athletes in Spain. The federation has the data collected by chips of all the runners who participate in all the races that take place in Spain, both amateurs and professionals. Although it may seem incredible, runners do not have a way of being able to see their marks, most of them write it down by hand on their race bib after finishing the race.
The Athletics Federation wanted to make sense of all this data that it has stored and that was not being used, and also wanted to help runners to find and know all the races that take place in our territory.

Our mission is to analyse all the stored data, give them a meaning and build a tool to help runners and bring them closer to the races.

Our Work.

Our solution is a website and a mobile application where runners can search for all races and also consult their entire history of official records and times. With all the data from the runners available, the app uses artificial intelligence to predict the runners’ future performance based on their previous records and characteristics. The analysis is carried out using variables such as race characteristics, runners’ records, and even weather conditions. Additionally, the app sends comparative messages with other runners who have participated in the same race, providing comparisons and encouraging the user to improve their times. Runners can follow upcoming races and receive updates about them, such as when race bibs go on sale—vital information for runners. All the data displayed in the app comes from sessions with professional and amateur runners, as well as race organizers.
